Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) sets mandatory water quality benchmarks for all public and semi-public swimming pools in Malaysia. These standards exist to prevent waterborne illness, bacterial contamination, and chemical hazards — protecting every person who enters your pool.
Non-compliance exposes property operators to closure orders, fines, and liability. For hotels, condominiums, and clubhouses, a failed inspection can affect operating licenses and reputation. Bright Tech treats KKM compliance as the non-negotiable baseline — not an optional add-on.
KKM Guidelines for Swimming Pool Water Quality govern the minimum water chemistry parameters for public and semi-public pools throughout Malaysia. These guidelines are enforced by local health authorities and are subject to scheduled and surprise inspections. Compliance documentation must be available for review upon request.

pH governs how effectively chlorine sanitises and how comfortable the water feels on skin and eyes. Outside this range, chlorine becomes either ineffective or dangerously corrosive.
Free chlorine is the active disinfectant that destroys bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. It must be maintained continuously — chlorine depletes rapidly under sunlight and heavy bather load.
Total alkalinity acts as a buffer that prevents rapid pH swings. Without adequate alkalinity, a single dose of chlorine or rain can crash pH to unsafe levels within hours.
Calcium hardness prevents the water from seeking minerals elsewhere — which means attacking concrete, plaster, grout, and equipment. Critically important for pools with tiled or plastered finishes.
TDS accumulates as chemicals are added and water evaporates. High TDS reduces chemical effectiveness and creates a "spent" feeling in the water — often described as saltiness or cloudiness.
E. coli presence in pool water indicates faecal contamination and immediate failure of the sanitation system. KKM mandates zero detectable E. coli — there is no acceptable threshold.
All parameters are tested on-site using calibrated DPD test kits and digital meters. Pre-treatment and post-treatment readings are recorded in the service report issued after every visit. If post-treatment readings fall outside KKM specification on any parameter, we remediate on the same visit at no additional charge.

On arrival, all six KKM parameters are measured using calibrated instruments. Baseline readings are recorded in the service log before any chemical is introduced.
Chemical doses — chlorine, flocculant, pH correctors, alkalinity builders — are calculated from the actual test results. We dose to the pool's current chemistry, not a standard formula.
After the treatment window, all parameters are retested. Results must fall within KKM specification before our specialist prepares to leave. Non-compliant readings trigger immediate remediation.
A written service report documenting both pre- and post-treatment readings is issued to the site contact. This document serves as your compliance record for authority inspection.

If post-treatment water testing shows any KKM parameter outside specification, we continue remediation until compliance is achieved — at no additional charge. We do not issue a report and leave a non-compliant pool. This is a standing commitment on every contract.
